Mohammed Tharwat Hassan, PhD

Mohammed Tharwat Hassan is an assistant professor in the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences and Department of Physics and a faculty member of the BIO5 Institute. His research focuses on developing ultrafast imaging technologies to observe atomic, molecular and electron dynamics at unprecedented timescales. His work includes pioneering attosecond electron microscopy, or “attomicroscopy,” which aims to capture electron motion in action, as well as attosecond pump-probe spectroscopy. Before joining the University of Arizona, Hassan was a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology and the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics.
